gg drops ToraDora
October 31, 2008 at 9:11 pm | In ToraDora! | 1 CommentJust a short blog this time round to commemorate Halloween(Note that I am not celebrating it).
To start off, I will want to write about gg dropping ToraDora. I guess this information is pretty outdated. If it is, sorry for that, but I still had to report it since I have been following gg for the past 4 episodes. Note that the site of gg which says they dropped it due to a cease and decease (c&d) is obviously a fake. ToraDora is unlicensed as of yet, and the reason for dropping it is that the members of gg simply loathed the show, except for the translator. Refer to the TL’s blog on the news, apparently he is working on continuing it with another group(dont ask me, I dont know).
At mt time of writing this post, AeroSubs have already released episode 5. AeroSubs is a pretty bad fansub since it is a speedsub still. Despite the fanciful name, it does not deliver. Seems like another Chihiro to me. Nevertheless, some CoalGuys(Note it is the TL of gg most likely) are doing it as if they are coal, i did prefer natural gas since it is greener. To simply put it, Coal does not = Cool, they are black like shit. For consolations, they is still AnimeYoshi who has become quite a slowpoke…… Seriously, I can do faster than them like Allison and Lillia still not done yet… So final say, go with Paradym fansubs, they are near the quality of AnimeYoshi plus faster and more decent. Although they might be another one of the puppets related to Moetaku….
TO end off, err…… yeah I promised a shorter post this time but hey, since I have already typed it, it doesn’t really matter I guess. So long and tomorrow is the 1st November, good day to everyone. My exams end on 13 Nov but on 3 Nov, the written papers are finally officially over. I will make an official celebration post on monday. Look forward to it, I guess, if anyone is reading my crap, that is.
~Nobody owns Japan a living, Taro Aso!
To Cat Megex: Well, I’m actually pretty surprised that someone actually left a comment for me, even though it is somehow unrelated to the topic. Firstly, I want to address this concern from a japanese newspaper which wrotes that Taro Aso mentions that nobody Owns Japan a Living. I began doubting whether it should be Owes or Owns but from what the forum readers later wrote in to complain about it, the press rebuke that what Taro Aso said was Owns instead of Owes, but some of you still don’t seem to see the humour of the phrase, that is why I purpose used this abcdefg. So enough of explanations, I wrote this edit straight after I woke up to dedicate this to Cat Megex. Good day to you, brother.
Index + Tales of the Abyss
October 28, 2008 at 11:50 am | In Tales of the Abyss, Toaru Majutsu no Index | Leave a CommentI watched Tales of the Abyss episode 5 last night and 2 episodes of index, 3 and 4 this morning. Firstly, let me talk about tales of the abyss. As you guys may know, tales of the abyss is based off a game by namco and also producers of successful games such as tales of symphonia. I did not play Symphonia but managed to finish the tales of the abyss PS2 game on friday. It took about 2 weeks for me to complete it. I finally understood why people were angry about the ending of the game. It is because it was not clear who was sacrificed and who came back alive, was it Luke or Asch. I will spoil everyone who did not play the game but has watched the anime so far. Van, Luke’s teacher is the main antagonist of the series and is the person who kidnapped Luke 7 years ago. He created a replica of Luke and what is to be noted is that, the Luke currently is the replicated one set to take on the real Luke Fon Fabre’s identity. The real luke, is actually Asch one of the god-generals. Asch is not a bad guy in the story, he got tired of Van’s plan and did not participate in his plot. The reason for replicating the real Luke is that Van is tired of a world where the score of Yulia confirms everything ofthe happenings. Hence he wish to create a world, a entirely new one, not relied on the score itself. So he replicated Luke. Eventually, Luke came to know of the truth and the story progresses with Luke fighting Van.
There are basically 2 couples in the series, Luke x Tear and Natalie X Asch. At the final arc of the game, either Luke or Asch must be sacrificed to save the town from the Miasma and the game ends off with one of the 2 returning. It was not clear who returned and hence many fans were unhappy with the cliff-hanging ending. Hopefully the anime will clear this cliff-hanger. However, Tear was the one smiling at the final scene which means Luke is most likely the one who returned. Tear also confessed her love for Luke before he departs.
As for Index, the plot is getting very amusing that it is not even funny. It is rather amusing to see them fighting over a person who can hold over 100,000 books in her head. And there goes a boy trying to protect her. Episodes 3 and 4 reviews one more antagonist who claimed that they were friends of index but could not retain her memories of them due to constant erasing of her memories. Hence they have given up on her.
I would be blogging for the next few days due to my entrance exams. See you guys in three days or so.
Ef ~A Tale of Melodies~ 1&2
October 27, 2008 at 11:29 am | In Ef ~A Tale of Melodies~ | Leave a CommentI supressed my long awaited desire to watch ef till today. I finished the first 2 episodes by menclave and will still be following their releases though AQS is doing quite well. Nevertheless, I don’t need to watch fansubs as I understand japanese but I would rather download episodes with subs rather than the raws which are harder to find.
Anyway, the purpose of this post is to discuss the plot that is developing in melodies. Firstly, a general overview is that ef did not lose its touch of the first season. It is equally good as compared to the first season. Just that it takes place in Australia this time round and features the Yuuko and Yuu who made appearances in the first season offering advice to Hirono and Miyako then. Most of the first two episodes features flashbacks of when Yuu and Yuuko met when they were young, in an orphanage. It was a short meet but Yuuko fell for Yuu then who rejected her as he loss his sister through a dramatic accident which has yet to be elaborated on. It also features the past school life of the both when Yuuko met Yuu again. If you do not know or have not noticed, the first season actually shows Hirono asking Yuu why he is always at the church. Yuu replies curtly by saying that he is waiting for someone, most likely refering to Yuuko. In melodies, we take a look at what happens in the past.
As for the second arc happening alongside Yuu and Yuuko’s arc, it is Mizuki and Kuze’s arc. Kuze is a musician and is a professional, performing in many stages in the world. What is mysterious about him is that he seems to be suffering from some sort of illness. He also seems to be hiding certain things from Mizuki. He is weird and has a big house which is almost empty. He is also seen burning some letters being sent back to him. It is still not too clear what the reason was. As for Mizuki, she seems to have developed a crush on Kuze despite warnings from Renji claiming he is a womanizer. Hopefully things work out well. Mizuki looks cute and I will admit that Mizuki’s arc will be my main focus as of Miyako’s arc in the first season.
Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka – 4
October 26, 2008 at 8:42 am | In Akaneiro ni Somaru Saka | Leave a CommentI take back what I have said regarding Akasaka. Episode 4 was surprisingly amusing and you can actually see some huge hints and developments in the storyline. Firstly, Junichi was aroused when he saw Minato’s low cut evening gown. The fact that they are siblings may bring about an incest releationship. I am still sticking onto my assumption of Minato not related to Junichi by blood and the climax of the anime will be who Junichi chooses, that is, Yuuhi or Minato. But it is obvious who he will be choosing since we all know for sure who the main character is in this anime. This episode saw the power of the Katagiri family when a few party goers actually saw fear when hearing of Yuuhi’s family name. I am starting to develop an attachment to Yuuhi. Although she acts tough but deep down she needs security and support.
Let’s cheers for the next episode as we observe the first date between Yuuhi and Junichi.
Evaluation of Fall animes part II
October 25, 2008 at 4:57 pm | In Fall animes 08 | Leave a CommentThis post is dedicated to criticise flashy animes that do not deliver. Firstly, I have finished watching Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka (Akasaka). I have a few things that I want to point out on, firstly, I hate the tsundere character of Yuuhi. In fact I would find myself attaching more towards Minato, Junichi’s sister. However, I don’t think Junichi will end up with Minato since the anime is obviously extending towards the side of Yuuhi. However, given Minato’s figure and long brown hair with a pony-tail, I think she make a better character as to Yuuhi.(Yuuhi is still the best after all!) Yuuhi looks completely fine except for her tsundere character which Rie Kugimiya voices. It is like a second version of ToraDora, Zero no Tsukaima and Shakugan no Shana. Seriously, the anime is drawn beautifully but falls short due to the obvious frustration of watching it. I just want pure romance not comedy or tsundere. Hopefully it proceeds in a better way from the next episode onwards. Episode 4 depicts a cruise trip invited by Ayanokouji. Minato’s curves do play a huge attraction in her dinner gown which completely fits her figure. As for Yuuhi, I dont know what to say except that I expect fierce rivary between her and Minato for Junichi’s affection given that Minato is not Junichi’s sister by blood.
Other animes that are much more promising includes Tales of the Abyss and Gundam 00 S2 by Sunrise. Gundam is needless to comment on it, but Tales of the Abyss is surprisingly good. gg is doing a great job with it and I approve of their grains in ToraDora since I’m really sick and tired of tsundere everywhere. Where is the pure romance…. Luke and Tear make a good couple in Tales of the Abyss.
On another note, Ef delivers as well with my kind of genre, that is, pure romance and slice of life. Not ecchi and drawn beautifully. The fact that I have not yet watched it does not hinder me from my confidence of this anime. Mizuki and Yuuko’s arc in this season. It’s sweet. Currently the recommended groups are Menclave as well as AQS. Chihiro is ok in their release but is a little bit cracky.
Third, Skip Beat sucks with a strong-headed girl Kyoko as the main character, not my type of anime and only Ureshii-Yoroshiku are doing it but way too slowly. Can’t believe why Singapore and Taiwan bother to bring this show to air simultaneously as japan.
Forthly, Tytania is also plain old boring with non original space opera setting. I have enough of that since Macross Frontier ends with a “fucking give a damn hey we are friends and we get along” ending. So no tytania for me even though classic ANBU is doing it. ANBU is largely dominated by menclave staff.
Shikabane Hime is a good anime which explains why FUNimation licensed it, resulting in Lunar’s silent dropping of it.
Six, Rosario + Vampire Capu2 is sadly too ecchi for me. it doesn’t help when m33w and ayako and taking their time fucking their mothers and claiming that they may drop it due to it being censored. Vampire Knight Guilty is the same old thing, Hey I am a vampire, I am going crazy, please kill me, the other will say no. So far, no obvious hints of who Yuki ends up with. FUCK them vampires and all alike.
Seven, Clannad:After Story focuses on side characters such as Mei and Sunohara. Nothing else to expect except that it is inferior to Kannon. But, in this age and time(2008), having an anime like clannad is definitely high rated since all those decent ones have all gone wrong. My verdict, Clannad is a good anime as we look at how Nagisa and Tomoya’s relationship proceed.
Eight, Hakushaku to Yousei is seriously a good anime to follow. m33w is placing low emphasis on it and focus on Chaos;Head instead. They are plain idiots who sub too many animes at once. Hakushaku is delayed on and on and give amusing release posts commenting on the flaws of their British English usage. Let me tell you m33w, that you bunch of croonies, have no right to complain about their usage of english. Neither do I care whether they use BrE or AmE as they are both english and literate and hence understandable. You are fansubs, m33w, and you fansub and not bullshit with your good english knowledge and such. There are no definite usage of english, be it AmE or BrE. They are each unique in their own ways.
9, Chaos;Head are for crazy fellows who have not seen killings and people who are suffering from Schizophrenia. Why watch such things, just make your schizophrenic instead.
10, fall animes this year fails…………..
