Ai Yori Aoshi
November 30, 2008 at 4:07 pm | In Ai Yori Aoshi | Leave a CommentI just started on Ai Yori Aoshi. It’s basically about a countryside girl coming into the city to wed a childhood friend of hers. The anime further includes some harem and is surprisingly well drawn for a 2002 anime. I’ll update the storyline when it’s complete, it comes with a second season with the phrase Enishi.
If you want to get both seasons of Ai Yori Aoshi, get it from KAA. On another note, they have also released their Spice and Wolf DVDs, it’s totally awesome. Note that there will be a second season of Spice and Wolf coming up in April 2009, look forward to it.
ToraDora! – 08
November 30, 2008 at 12:56 pm | In ToraDora! | Leave a CommentToraDora has 25 episodes and the way the plot is progressing is good. Althought it may be slow, it allows for enough character development as well as the progression of the relationship. Take episode 8 for example, Taiga is starting to have feelings for Ryuuji as seen from various angles.
Firstly, she got jealous when Ryuuji told her that if she lose, he will just go for Ami’s vacation house. Taiga mistook this assurance thinking that Ryuuji likes to be with Ami. Taiga then burst into temple and kick off the parasol. However with some drunken advice from his mom, Ryuuji made a bento full of meat for Taiga. As a result, Taiga was touched and decided to try her best at the 100m freestyle event, with a board of course. Taiga begins the race by using delay tactics and was leading until her leg cramped.
Ryuuji jumped into the water to help her but Taiga insisted on continuing the race for Ryuuji’s sake. Taiga begins to catch up with the now leading Ami until she noticed that Ryuuji was knocked unconscious and was drowning due to a few guys jumping in and hit onto Ryuuji. Taiga saved Ryuuji and screamed while crying at everyone that they were too fixed on Ami’s beautiful figure and forgot about Ryuuji. Ryuuji awoke meanwhile hearing Taiga claiming that Ryuuji was hers and no one can touch him.
Taiga loss the race as a result but decided to tag along with Ryuuji to the vacation resort. From these events, we can obviously conclude that Taiga is jealous and is already having feelings for Ryuuji.
I somewhat feel for Taiga since she is experiencing lack of confidence because of her body size and everything. When up against such a well-edowed person, you can help but feel intimidated and inferior. I’m sure many people who are not perfect will experience this and that includes me as well.

Ef ~A Tale of Melodies~ 4 – 8
November 30, 2008 at 11:19 am | In Ef ~A Tale of Melodies~ | Leave a CommentAfter spending one night and one morning, I have finally caught up with the latest episode of Melodies, episode 8. I can only describe the anime with one word, Painful. But I need to state out that this anime is beautiful, in a sense of its plot and the progression of the episodes. Although the plot tends to be messy and over exaggerated, it does bring an emotional feel to it hence being called a psychological anime. Melodies prove to be more emotional than Memories. The fact that there are 2 Otowas made the anime unique. Memories looked at 2 arcs, namely Miyako and Chihiro’s, where Chihiro’s arc took place in Australia’s Otowa while Miyako’s arc took place in Japan’s Otowa. Both of them look exactly the same, except for the seasons. Currently in Melodies, Mizuki visits Renji in Australia and meets Kuze there. So Yuu is also in Australia whereas Yuuko is in Japan. After knowing about this, you can finally make the ends meet. I have personally finished playing the game and thought it was a bitter sweet ending. I am thinking that the anime will not go according to the ending of the game.
Yuu and Yuuko’s arc is certainly very depressing since it all happened in the past. Kuze in the present told Yuu to settle things, this tells me that Yuu and Yuuko had not met yet given that they are in different places. One guess is that Yuuko isn’t human, since she disappeared in a flutter of feathers every time she gives people advice. My guess is that they will finally meet and settle things once again. Though I hope for a good ending, I dont think there will be.
Mizuki and Kuze wise, I also feel that it will end badly, given the terminal illness of Kuze. It will take a miracle for him not to die, but rather, I feel that Kuze will accept his condition and not to be afraid handling things. Kuze has been avoiding things he cant accomplish, and hence when met with something that cannot be accomplish, and cannot be escaped from, he breaks down. As for Yuu, he is running away and does not settle things.
Ef ~A Tale of Melodies~ 04+
November 29, 2008 at 10:30 pm | In Ef ~A Tale of Melodies~ | Leave a CommentI will no longer wait for menclave to finish ef since they are putting their effort on Gundam instead. Let’s keep this short, I will continue this anime from episode 4 where menclave left off. I have already long decided that I will watch this anime in a brave manner where I have already prepared myself for the worst possible ending. Note that preparing yourself is an important thing, this is so as a bad ending which you do not expect will hurt you deeper than you know. This is from experience and I myself found it hard to contain those emotions. Melodies is a very tragic anime as everything must come to an end, when there is a beginning(memories), there will be an end.
It’s Thanks Giving!
November 28, 2008 at 8:05 am | In Toaru Kagaku no Choudenjibou, Toaru Majutsu no Index | Leave a CommentWell, it’s Thanks Giving Day, but sadly no turkeys for me since Singapore does not celebrate Thanks Giving. A quite glance at wikipedia states that Thanks Giving is a harvest festival where all the crops are reaped before winter comes. It is a time where gratitude is expressed and thanks giving dinner is held. There are 2 types of thanks giving, one of which is the canadian thanks giving which is held in the second monday of October. The other one is the one that is mainly recognised, the american thanks giving. It is held on the forth thursday of every november.
Here’s a thanks giving treat, the manga adaptation of Toaru Majutsu no Index. Note that the manga is original and features Mikoto Misaka, the cute little highschool looking girl Touma met in the first episode. One must note that Toaru Majutsu no Index is a spin-off of this original manga. The manga title is called Toaru Kagaku no Choudenjibou, and is available for reading on onemanga.
