I find out that whenever I translate animes, I don’t watch the released version afterwards. This mentality of mine is a bit strange but I do think it’s very logical. It just feels weird seeing your own subtitles on a show that you watched and rewatched for as much as 3 times to translate the entire episode. Nevertheless translating gives you a sense of satisfaction.

Episode 4 reveals more things about the show and it’s terminology. It introduces a few characters one being the president of the Second Student Council. This council’s motto is mainly basing it’s operations to protecting Akumas (Demons), but with methods that are as cheap and does not involve money as possible. If you have not noticed, every Student Council has their own aims in a form of a motto. It’s rather lame but it sort of gives you an idea what they play in the anime.

Apparently there’s this guy named Mahiwa who contracted a demon. When they mean contracted, it means to have intercourse with a demon. In this case, Mahiwa is the human and the demon is unknown but when humans and demon have intercourse, they are said to have form a contract with the demon. Something, like a baby, will be born and they are termed Familiar. These Familiars is a symbol of the contract between a human (contractor) and the demon. However, in this case, Mahiwa had gotten tired of that demon and is denying the contract with it. As such, the Familiar will go wild an out of control, trying to seek out it’s contractor.

Mahiwa and the Second Student Council president were trying to lure the Familiar out. The president was using Mahiwa as a bait and Mahiwa was reluctantly told to lure the Familiar out. It’s believed that the Second Student Council president is trying to capture the Familiar alive, for reported cash profits. Coincidentally, the Third student council was there because the First Student Council, Reishirou, ordered them to do so. They were ordered to capture the Lake Tobi monster (Tobishi) and kill it as Lake Tobi is an area where students will have their outdoor activities. This is in a bid to ensure the safety of the students when the extra curricular activities start.

After much discussion, the Third Student Council decided to slay the Familiar as it is in fact the Tobishi they were suppose to kill. Kurosaki Shuri then headed out and tried to kill the familiar, she had to do that because she is representing the Third Student Council and must honour their promise with Reishirou. As a result, Tomo decided to stop Shuri as well in a bid to save the Familiar. The Second Student Council president used her Asura Machina, named Shishou (Crystal) whereas Tomo used Kurogane. In a fierce fight, Shuri shot was about to hit Mahiwa, the Familiar protected him. This led to Mahiwa recognising and finally accepting the Familiar. As a result, the Familiar transformed into a golden coloured dog like creature. Hence the Tobishi was gone and the Third Student Council have honoured their promise. This concludes the episode.

As for the middle of the episode, Kanade warns Tomo not to use his Asura Machina if he wants Misao to be safe. It was not explained what will happen if Tomo used Asura Machina too often. But as you know, Misao is the handler of Kurogane. She is a Spectral Apparition who sort of pilots the Kurogane who by itself has not conscious will.
